Astronaut Socks was inspired by the story of May Hosiery Mills, the historic sock factory across the street from our brewery here in Wedgewood-Houston.
The May Hosiery sock mill dates back to the early 1900s and had many accomplishments in its time, including the making of the socks worn by the astronauts on NASA’s Apollo space missions. That’s right, the socks that Neil Armstrong donned for his small step/giant leap Moon landing in 1969 were made right down the street! Shoutout to one of our regulars at The Ranch taproom, Bob, for sharing the story with us! And thanks to our new friends and brew-drinking neighbors at Adventurous Journeys for preserving the Mill and sharing these throwback shots with us.
